"The Silencer" is the latest innovation to emerge from the workshop of  Dino Bersis.  It's an electric bouzouki made out of a single piece of wood.  Parts of the body are cut out to reduce the weight and enhance the design.  Chambers are also hollowed out to house the electronics.  "The Silencer" was developed to serve as a travel instrument that can be used for practicing without disturbing others.  It can  be plugged directly into an amplifier, or played through a headset.  A traditional bouzouki neck with a truss rod, is attached to a carved out body.  The body can be made of either mahogany, cherry, walnut or maple.  The weight of the instrument is less than five pounds.

The Silencer is available in two models; the standard model, or the deluxe model.

The standard model comes with a magnetic bouzouki pickup located at the base of the neck.

 The deluxe model,comes with a specially designed piezo pickup in the floating bridge, and with a magnetic bouzouki pickup located at the base of the neck and a preamp electronic unit inside the body at the output jack port.  The deluxe model requires a stereo Y cable (included).  This cable allows the player to split the acoustic sound of the piezo pickup and the electric sound of the magnetic pickup into a PA system or into two separate amplifier inputs.  A truly unique sound combination can be achieved through this setup.
